Opera TV Store

Opera TV Store

The Opera TV Store is set to bring hundreds of entertaining apps to all TiVo set-top boxes for U.S. cable operator RCN. It is the first pay-TV cable operator to launch Opera Software’s app platform on its TiVo devices, and the first TiVo operator deployment following the partnership to bring the Opera TV Store to TiVo set-top boxes.

The Opera TV Store – an HTML5, cloud-based application solution – enables premium, over-the-top content for Smart TV devices such as from TiVo. It empowers RCN to offer more entertainment options and brings subscribers a rich selection of video, music, games, social media, news and utility apps for the biggest screen in the home.

As well as making access to over-the-top content seamless, the Opera TV Store gives cable operators full control over which apps are available for their subscribers. It provides RCN with a backend system for advanced statistics on Opera TV Store usage, such as the popularity of individual apps, so they can make continued improvements to bring customers the best apps available. The managed cloud solution can also offer rich customization and branding possibilities, as well as enabling operators to prioritize local apps and content.

Opera’s application platform will be available on all of RCN’s TiVo set-top boxes. RCN TiVo boxes already deployed in homes will be updated over the RCN broadband network, so existing viewers can also enjoy the Opera app storefront.

Pioneer SE-M531 headphone

Pioneer SE-M531 headphone

Pioneer Europe launches two new headphones, designed to generate realistic surround sounding audio that immerses home cinema enthusiasts into their entertainment sound. Whether they are used to watch a DVD or Blu-ray Disc, listen to a CD, or music and movies from the internet, the SE-M531 and SE-M521 headphones bring every sound to life with life-like detail. Their self-adjusting headband and soft ear pads ensure comfortable, long listening sessions. Both models feature generously-sized 40mm driver units that accurately reproduce low frequencies and deliver dynamic, deep and powerful bass sound. With “Powerful Bass Duct” which is a ported bass duct design, the user will be able to enjoy stronger, richer bass sound. The secret is that small, strategically placed hole on the side that allows the driver to breathe. In addition, the SE-M531 headphone incorporates strong rare earth magnets and a CCAW (Copper-Clad Aluminum Wire) voice coil, which enables this model to deliver deeper bass and crystal clear wideband sound.

The fully enclosed design and snug-fit ear pads of the new Pioneer headphones effectively isolate against ambient noise and prevent sound leakage, enabling users to enjoy music or movies to the fullest without disturbing other household members.

Thanks to a comfortable free-adjusting headband system, which automatically adjusts the length of headband to the user’s head, a perfect, secure fit is guaranteed at all times. Adding to the comfort are soft velour-type ear pads on the SE-M531 and leather-type ear pads on the SE-M521.

A 3.5m long single-sided cord stays tangle-free and allows for easy TV watching or music listening from a distance. Accessories include a φ6.3 mm gold-plated stereo standard plug adapter.

Availability

The Pioneer SE-M531 and SE-M521 headphones are available from March 2014.
