NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it will begin operating platforms for gaming in late November and online shopping in mid December via its dmarket portal of content and services for smartphones and tablets. DOCOMO’s new mobile gaming platform, dgame, will offer high-quality games in cooperation with leading game providers such as NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc., Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd., SEGA Corporation., and SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD. Starting with 15 social gaming titles, including the latest original games from DOCOMO, dgame will steadily expand its menu of popular games. For user safety, dgame will not offer compulsive-style content or games designed to tempt users, and will limit the amount of spending and social communication functions available to minors. NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it will enhance its docomo cloud services for Android smartphones and tablets from November by upgrading its popular voice-command personal agent service, Shabette-Concier, and introducing cloud-compatible versions of the phonebook and email services for DOCOMO Android devices. Shabette-Concier is an advanced voice interface that allows users to acquire information and operate handset functions by speaking naturally into a smartphone. The upgrade will enable the service to respond more accurately by taking into account user attributes such as age and gender, and by nearly doubling the searchable information categories to over 30. Categories for maps, train timetables, driving directions, horoscopes and many others will make DOCOMO’s agent service more personal and practical than ever.

DOCOMO to Conduct Discount Campaign for LTE Smartphones, 10-year customers will pay no basic monthly LTE charge for two years

NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that customers purchasing smartphones compatible with the company’s extra-high-speed LTE service Xi (read “crossy”), which surpassed six million subscribers in September, will be able to cut their basic monthly charge to zero during a discount campaign for DOCOMO Xi smartphones starting on October 18. Customers will enjoy monthly discounts of up to 780 yen, equivalent to the monthly basic charge, for up to 13 months if they purchase a Xi-compatible smartphone and sign up for the Type Xi Plan Ninen two-year billing plan, or the Type Xi billing plan combined with a Hearty Discount for disabled users, between October 18 and December 31. Subscribers who have been with the company for at least 10 consecutive years and purchase a Xi-compatible smartphone by December 31 will receive an additional 12 months of discounts, meaning they will be able to reduce their monthly bills by up to 780 yen for a maximum of 25 months.
